A man has died after a police chase that started in Niles and ended with a crash in downtown South Bend last night. The Indiana State Police say officers in Michigan tried to stop the man for a traffic violation at the Green Stem dispensary and he took off. Officers chased the man into South Bend and fired shots at him after he crashed the car. He was found dead on the banks of the St. Joseph River after crashing the car near Memorial Hospital and McDonald’s on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Details including where he was from, his age, and his name have not been released.
