Johnny O. Coulson, 76, of Benton Township died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Services celebrating his life will be held at Noon on Wednesday, March 16, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery with Military Honors by the North Berrien Military Detail. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Fairplain Chapel. Johnny was born on January 13, 1946 in Morrilton, AR. His parents were Hugh and Lydia Evelyn Coulson.

Johnny graduated in 1965 from the Richland High School in Essex, MO. After graduating from Richland, he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1966 until 1969. He served in Vietnam during the war with a Mobile Supply Base of the US Navy. Johnny married his wife, Linda Scarbrough, in 1978 and together they have celebrated 44 years of marriage. He was a custodian with the Benton Harbor Area School System for more than 33 years and retired in 2007. Johnny was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Coloma. He enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, riding motorcycles and doing puzzles. He was also a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Johnny was a caring, strong willed wonderful person who loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

His family includes his wife, Linda; his children, Jamie (David) Cheske of Benton Harbor, Lisa (Rocky) Coulson of Walterboro, SC, and Richard Palms of Battle Creek; his 6 grandchildren, Bryson and Caleb of Walterboro, SC, Alyssa and Jamie of Coloma, Noah and Phoenix of Benton Harbor, his 2 sisters and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert.
