A presentation exploring the pandemic and its effects on the economy will be held next month as part of a partnership between the South Haven Speaker Series and the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan. South Haven Speaker Series President Mark Odland tells WSJM News the keynote speaker will be Grand Valley State University economist Dr. Paul Isely.
“Paul is going to talk about the economy today,” Odland said. “What’s going on in this pandemic economy? How is it affecting the state of Michigan and southwest Michigan?”
After that will be a panel featuring Cornerstone Alliance President Rob Cleveland and former Battle Creek Unlimited President Jim Hettinger.
“Those two gentlemen are going to be looking at what’s really happening on the streets. What’s really happening in South Haven and Saugatuck and St. Joe and other areas in southwest Michigan?”
Odland says with everything now virtual, it made sense for the South Haven Speaker Series and Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan to team up. He notes attendance for virtual engagements has been even higher than for in-person events. The Pandemic Economy and Beyond will be at 7 p.m. on April 22. The engagement will be free, although they ask for a donation. You can sign up at TheMendelCenter.com.
