The Hartford Public Library is inviting everyone to a special presentation on the House of David this month.
The library says historian Evelyn Sterne will discuss her book, “The House of David: Salvation, Scandal, and Survival in a Modern American Commune,” on April 25 at 11 a.m.
The event will take place in the library’s community room and is free and open to the public.
The book was named one of the 2026 Michigan Notable Books by the Library of Michigan. The annual Notable Books list recognizes works highlighting the state’s cultural and literary heritage.
Sterne is a professor of history and director of the Center for the Humanities at the University of Rhode Island and specializes in American religion, immigration, and communal societies.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase and autograph following the presentation.
