Sandra Sue Anderson, a lifelong resident of Niles, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 16, 1942, to the late Fred and Margaret (Ritter) Boose, Sandra’s early life in Niles set the stage for a lifetime of community involvement and a legacy of warmth and generosity.
Sandra’s heart was always close to home. She married the love of her life, Vernon “Dale” Anderson, in her hometown on July 16, 1964, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Their union was blessed with two sons, Chris and Rodney, who Sandra raised with devotion and a joyous spirit that would come to define her.
She found pleasure in the simple routines of daily life, working as a hall monitor at Niles High School and also working with the mentally disabled as a community living support aid. There, she was more than a watchful eye; she was a friendly face to students and staff, often sharing words of encouragement and wisdom that many would carry with them long after graduation.
Sandra’s life was one of active engagement, not just within the walls of the schools, but also in the great outdoors. She cherished time spent camping, exploring the beauty of nature, and imparting a sense of adventure to her beloved grandchildren. Her four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she dedicated countless hours to creating memories that they will treasure forever.
A phenomenal cook and baker, Sandra’s kitchen was the heart of her home. The aromas of her famous dishes and treats were a constant invitation to family and friends to gather and share in the joy of good food and great company. Her culinary skills were only matched by her knack for crocheting, a hobby that allowed her to weave warmth and care into every stitch.
Shopping was another pastime that Sandra enjoyed, whether it was searching for the perfect gift for a loved one or simply enjoying the company of a friend on a leisurely outing. Her keen eye for detail and love for her family often turned these shopping excursions into treasure hunts for the next beloved family heirloom.
Sandra’s life was marked by her steadfast presence and unwavering support for her family. She was a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Her brother, Don (Nancy) Boose, and her sister, Bonnie (Kailasam) Iyer, will remember her for her strength, compassion, and the laughter they shared.
As we bid farewell to Sandra Sue Anderson, we celebrate a life lived with intention and kindness. Her legacy is not merely in the roles she held but in the love she gave freely and the lives she touched. Sandra’s memory will forever be cherished by her husband, Dale; her sons, Chris and Rodney; her brother, Don; sister, Bonnie; her four grandchildren, Christopher Anderson, Joshua (Nichole) Anderson, Stephanie Anderson (Phillip Kimbrell) and Katelyn Cooke; ten great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew and a community that was better for her presence.
Sandra’s journey through life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, one that was rich in experiences and abundant in love. Her spirit, characterized by her love for family and zest for life, will continue to inspire those who knew her.
