The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners is whole again.

The commission announced last month it was seeking applicants to fill out the remainder of District Five Commissioner Randall Peat’s term. County Administrator John Faul tells us the board on Tuesday selected Mike Toth for the job. He previously represented the Fifth District before stepping down about ten years ago.

Toth agreed to fill the seat through the end of Peat’s term, which is December 31 of this year. He does not plan to run in the November election.

Faul says the county was fortunate to have ten qualified applicants for the post, but with Toth only planning to serve on an interim basis until the term is up, the other candidates will have the option of running for the seat in November.

Toth is a resident of Paw Paw.
