The South Haven City Council has advanced a new condominium project planned along Virginia Avenue.
At its regular meeting this week, the council heard a request to introduce an ordinance to rezone 6.9 acres of property at 706 and 712 Virginia to allow for a planned unit development proposed by Edgewater Development. City Zoning Administrator Kelly Getman-Dissette told council what’s planned.
“The plan is to develop a site condominium with six single-family residential lots,” Getman-Dissette said. “There would be a private road, an internal trail, and a dock along the Black River with six boat slips that would be one for each home site.”
The site is south of the River Ridge Retirement Village and is currently zoned Multiple Family Residential.
Council had a few questions for the developers about easement concerns with a neighboring property owner and drainage, which the developer said has been addressed in the site plan. The goal is to start construction on the six condos this year.
Council approved the introduction of the rezoning, which will be the subject of a public hearing on March 2.
