Raymond (Ray) Simmelink, age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was born on March 6, 1942, to Clayton and Maude (Dekker) Simmelink in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Ray attended Sheboygan Christian Schools and was a graduate of Calvin College. After 12 years as a teacher in the Muskegon Christian School system, he moved on to fill many roles in the business world, as a leader, manager, and guiding influence to others.
Ray was a devoted member of the Christian community. His passion for service led him to volunteerism in his church as a quartet and choir member and in the community as a mentor and tutor.
In his free time (and in retirement), Ray enjoyed golfing in the church league and had a passion for spending time outdoors and enjoying time with family and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Martheen F. Simmelink. He is survived by his children, Chris (Holly) Simmelink, Jonathan (Jasmine) Simmelink, and Bethany Henderson; and his grandchildren, Samanatha Simmelink, Brittney Simmelink, Cortney Pellegrin, Jeremy Pellegrin, and James Henderson III.
He is also survived by his beloved spouse, Bonnie Simmelink, and her children, Todd (Deborah) Tiefenbach and Scott (Sarah) Tiefenbach; and her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maxwell and Kathleen.
A memorial service for Raymond will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church (404 Glenlord Rd. St. Joseph, MI 49085) with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s name can be made to Grace Lutheran Church. He will be interred at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville, Michigan. Feel free to share a memory with the family in their online guestbook at www.starks-menchinger.com.
