Cynthia J. Halley, 71, of Coloma passed away unexpectedly at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St Joseph.

Cynthia was born July 15, 1954 in Chicago to Jack Peter and Sylvia (Philp) McGreehin.  Growing up, she had fond memories of her family’s cottage in South Haven, which fostered a lifelong love for Lake Michigan and lighthouses.  Cindy was a great cook who loved trying new recipes. She always cooked in large quantities to ensure there was plenty for everyone to enjoy.  She had a true passion for crafts which began with her grandmother’s influence. She eventually earned a living as a crafter, selling her stained glass creations, sewing, and crochet goods at local craft shows where she loved socializing with fellow vendors. She also hand-made many of Stephanie’s childhood clothes, altered dance recital costumes, and made all Halloween costumes.  Stephanie was her pride and joy.  As her biggest supporter, she was an active volunteer for school activities, including field trips, choir productions, and dance recitals. She taught Stephanie the value of giving back through mission trips and activities with the Methodist church and senior center. She also passed on practical lessons like the importance of coupon clipping, saving half of one’s earnings, and packing efficiently.

Cindy was known as a dedicated caregiver for her friends and the elderly, truly enjoying the act of caring for others.

Survivors include her husband Russell, her daughter Stephanie (Christopher Clark) Halley, two sisters; Cheryl (Robert) Nowoc and Stacy McGreehin, a brother Jack Peter McGreehin, along with eight nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.  Cindy was preceded in death by her father Pete McGreehin and her mother Sylvia Grillo.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place and no services are planned.  Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Riverside United Methodist Church or Animal Aid of Southwest Michigan. Animal Aid holds special meaning, as they helped find homes for all the strays Stephanie would bring home, which is likely why Stephanie became a veterinarian and animal rescuer.

Cremation has taken place. No services are planned.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home, Coloma.
