The Michigan Flywheelers Museum in South Haven has been awarded a $100,000 Challenge Grant to help build a new ticket booth and gift shop, marking the first phase of a redesigned main entrance.

The museum says its barn-style building will serve as a modern front door to the 80-acre campus, featuring an improved admissions area, larger gift shop, and modern, accessible restrooms when all is finished. As a challenge grant, all community donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000.

Museum President Patrick Ingalls says the project is an investment in improving the visitor experience and preserving Michigan’s agricultural heritage. The new entrance is also tied to the museum’s Black River Railroad steam train project now under construction.

The museum is asking local businesses, historical enthusiasts, and the South Haven community to help meet the $100,000 goal. Contributions can be made online via the museum’s website, by mail, or by attending one of many fundraisers planned.

All donations towards the Challenge Grant are tax-deductible.
