Two men were arrested January 8 after law enforcement officers executed search warrants at two locations in Berrien County as part of ongoing narcotics investigations, according to authorities.

Detectives from the Southwest Enforcement Team, Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, and Michigan Department of Corrections carried out the warrants following separate investigations.

The first warrant was executed in the 400 block of Lincoln Street in Benton Harbor after a four-month investigation. Police said a 44-year-old Benton Harbor man was arrested and lodged in the Berrien County Jail. He is charged with one count of possession of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, both listed as second offenses.

The second warrant was served in the 100 block of Plum Court in Benton Township following a two-month investigation. Authorities said a 46-year-old man from the Benton Harbor area was arrested and lodged in the Berrien County Jail. He faces one count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and one count of maintaining a drug house, also second offenses.

Officials said the enforcement actions reflect continued efforts by the Southwest Enforcement Team and its partner agencies to remove illegal drugs from the community and improve public safety in Berrien County and the surrounding region.

Authorities encouraged community members to continue reporting suspected drug activity, noting that all narcotics-related tips in Berrien, Van Buren, and Cass counties are investigated.
