South Haven Area Emergency Services Director Brandon Hinz says 2025 was another busy year for the department, with crews responding to more than 2,900 calls for service — an increase of more than 200 calls from 2024 and continuing a long-term growth trend.
In a year-end report, Hinz says SHAES strengthened its workforce through strong paid-on-call recruitment, added career positions, welcomed new hires, and expanded its cadet program. He says the department also focused on community engagement and safety, expanding fire prevention efforts in schools and among seniors and conducting extensive fire inspections.
Hinz also noted SHAES made key equipment upgrades in 2025, including new grass trucks, a fireboat, updated safety gear, and power tools.
Looking ahead, Hinz says 2026 will mark 30 years of SHAES, building on a tradition of service that started with the South Haven Fire Department all the way back in 1888.
SHAES has also posted a pictorial retrospective of the year, which you can find right here.
