Michael B. Terry, 62, of Cassopolis, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
His life began June 4, 1963, in Elkhart, Indiana, one of three children born to Carl and Carol Terry. He married the love of his life, Ramona G. Benjamin July 7, 1990, in Cassopolis, Michigan.
Mike was a proud alumnus and dedicated fan of Michigan State University. He proudly served on the Cassopolis Fire Department, where he met Ramona in the back of an ambulance as her trainee. Â He was a devoted farmer who cherished time in his combine, driving through the fields, and walking among the corn. Mike enjoyed hunting and ice fishing, but it was his love of dirt that earned him the affectionate title of “Pig Pen.”
Above all, Mike treasured spending time with his grandchildren. A man of deep faith, he loved reading scripture and engaging in meaningful faith-based discussions. He was a hardworking provider for his cherished family and a true workaholic at heart. Mike’s coworkers fondly called him “Papa Smurf” due to his signature blue pants, white beard, and caring nature toward everyone around him.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Ramona Terry of Cassopolis; daughter, Erin (Derek) Rutledge of Edwardsburg; son, Isaiah Terry of Cassopolis; three grandchildren, Morgan, Alison, and Thomas; mother, Carol Terry of Cassopolis; father, Carl Terry of Spring City, Tennessee; sister, Colleen Pegura of Edwardsburg; brother, Patrick (Lisa) Terry of Edwardsburg; brothers-in-law, Russel (Kelly) Benjamin of Cassopolis, Robert (Debbie) Benjamin of Plainwell, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, Michigan.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Mike be made to the Central Cass Fire Department, 23201 M-60, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
