The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the driver behind a fatal hit and run crash discovered on Wednesday.
The department says deputies were dispatched to the 66,000 block of 48th Avenue in Bangor Township around 11:20 p.m. on a report of a man lying unresponsive in the road.
Lifesaving measures were performed, but 34-year-old Anthony Michael Vanhees of Bangor Township died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. It’s believed he was struck by a vehicle.
The sheriff’s department says a home surveillance camera system located near the scene captured the victim walking east and past the house just a few minutes before a light-colored pickup is seen westbound.
The department asks anyone with information on the crash to contact it.
