More than $235,000 in grants have been announced for programming at St. Joseph Public Schools.
The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation says the Special Fund Request grants will support classroom technology upgrades, bands and orchestra programs, STEM projects, literacy programs, and after-school activities. They were announced recently by members of the Student Foundation during their annual Big Check Day.
The foundation says programs receiving support include Key Club, robotics, and WEB, or Where Everyone Belongs, mentoring.
WEB is a new initiative at Upton Middle School that started with a grant request by the assistant principal last year. It’s a peer-led middle school transition initiative that works to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for incoming 6th graders.
The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation says it’s now looking ahead to the full implementation of WEB at the middle school.
