An Eau Claire man has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of off-duty Eau Claire firefighter Chad Medlin last year.
48-year-old Rigoberto Gomez was charged with second degree murder in the case. The jury returned its verdict on Thursday.
The Berrien County Trial Court says Gomez was also found guilty of charges that include assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Medlin was killed in the shooting following an altercation at a bar in downtown Eau Claire on November 2 of 2024.
Gomez will be sentenced on January 5.
