The Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary is marking a Thanksgiving tradition next Wednesday, celebrating 31 years of assembling holiday meal baskets for local families.
During the club’s weekly meeting, members will pack complete dinners — including a turkey, sides, extras, and a handmade table runner — for 24 Benton Harbor families.
The Rotary says this is the second year in a row it’s increased the number of baskets. Most of the food is donated by club members, and Flowers Early Learning will deliver the baskets to families later that morning.
The Rotary is also kicking off its annual toy drive, collecting new, unwrapped educational toys for children ages three to twelve. The effort supports Educational Toys for the Needy & Aid, founded by Eddie Marshall, who started the program after his own family once went without Christmas gifts.
Rotary leaders say both initiatives aim to ease need, spread kindness, and strengthen the community.
Anyone who wants to help is invited to reach out to the Rotary.
