South Haven residents to receive letters about lead water line inspections

south-haven

South Haven and Covert Township residents will be getting letters this month from the South Haven Area Water and Sewer Authority as part of an ongoing effort to identify any remaining lead water lines.

Like cities across Michigan, South Haven has been working to identify and replace those old lines.

The city says the letters going out this month will show a resident whether their service line is known to be lead, galvanized, or still unknown. Even newer homes may get a notice if parts of the line haven’t been verified.

Crews from the city and Five Star Energy Services are now inspecting and replacing any lead or galvanized lines at no cost to homeowners. Anyone can check their address on the South Haven Area Water and Sewer Authority’s map online.

Anyone with questions should contact the South Haven Department of Public Works.
