Reneè Suzanne (Walther) Lewis

Reneè’s life began November 3, 1956 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She grew up in Coloma attending Washington Elementary and graduated from Coloma High School. Reneè spent most of her adult life living in Alabama, She was a renowned dog trainer often giving demos at The American Family Pet Expo in Orange County, California as well as other pet expos. She would use an untrained dog from a local shelter to show how effective training could be.

She was a former member of the American Kennel Club and active member of the Humane Society of America. She was highly dedicated to stopping dog fighting and rescuing animals in distress. Reneè worked at Jeffers Pet Supply as the K9 expert for over 20 years. Prior to that she had been a magistrate and 911 operator in Dothan, AL and in Michigan worked in the law enforcement field, she also worked the nuclear contract network as a dosimetry technician

Her hobbies in Alabama prior to her illness included sailing, scuba diving, target shooting and riding motorcycle with Ken. In fact her first date with Ken in 2003 was a motorcycle ride on a bike he built. Five short years later they married.

Reneè loved her family which includes; her husband Kennedy Lewis, her sister Cyndy (Ron) Winfield, her great nephews Caleb and Jackson Winfield and several cousins.

Reneè died Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Noland Hospital Dothan in Dothan, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Vera (Leist) Walther and her nephew Jason Winfield. A graveside service will be celebrated Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Coloma Cemetery in Coloma, Michigan. Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet is assisting Reneè’s family and you are invited to leave a message of comfort for her family
