Chapman Lewis Piggott, 59, passed away peacefully at his home, 7450 Meadowbrook Road, Benton Harbor, Michigan following a brief battle with cancer.
Visitation will be at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, Michigan, Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Joshua Bishop at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Penn Yan Cemetery in Bainbridge Township.
Chap was born to Stanley and Eva (Linderoth) Piggott on June 10, 1966 in BentonHarbor, Michigan. He was the youngest of their four children.He graduated in 1984 from Watervliet High School. Chap was involved in farming his whole life with his parents and owned Lone Pine Farms for the past twelve years. He also worked for Hinkelman Farms during grape harvesting in the fall. A job he loved and looked forward to every year.
Chap loved snowmobiling, motorcycles, his many Chevy pickups and, of course, his dogs. He was blessed with many wonderful friends over the years. Those same friends were a great help and support to Chap and his family these past three months.
Chap was named for his great grandfather, Chapman Piggott who immigrated here from England in 1871 and was the first Piggott to farm here in Berrien County. Chap is the end of this long farming legacy of growing fruits and vegetables. Chap is survived by his daughter, Maci, and his siblings Penny (Greg) Sempert, Brian Piggott, Carla (Tim) Lynch, and sister-in-law, Debbie Piggott. Uncle Chap will be missed by his nephews and niece, Nicholas, Adam and Patrick Sempert, Eric Piggott, Kelly, Shawn and Kevin Lynch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Eva Piggott and his dogs, Sam and Sarah.
