A Cass County man is facing multiple drug charges following a narcotics investigation led by the Southwest Enforcement Team.

Michigan State Police announced on Thursday that officers executed a search warrant last Friday at a home in the 1300 block of Zilke Road in Howard Township after a two-month investigation involving SWET, the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team, the Michigan State Police K-9 unit, and the U.S. Postal Inspector Service.

Police say they seized 315 methamphetamine pills, 150 grams of psilocin mushrooms, and smaller amounts of MDMA, LSD, and methamphetamine.

Forty-year-old Brett Owen Boone of Cass County was arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail. He faces three counts of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine or ecstasy, one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and one count of maintaining a drug house.

Investigators are urging the public to report suspected drug trafficking to the Michigan State Police either by email at MSP-PROTECT@michigan.gov or by calling 269-982-8664. They note fatal drug overdoses in southwest Michigan now outnumber deadly car crashes and homicides combined each year.

The Southwest Enforcement Team is funded in part by the Michigan HIDTA program and the U.S. Department of Justice through a Byrne JAG grant administered by Michigan State Police.
