Mary Lou Leak, 85, of Cassopolis, died peacefully in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began July 9, 1940 in Elkhart, the first of three children born to Ada and Raymond Hibshman.
Mary could often be found playing bingo at the VFW in Cassopolis. She loved games of all kinds. She never missed family game night. Mary had a pal Little One, who will miss her. Mary enjoyed crafts, like knitting and crocheting. She regularly spent many hours talking to family on the phone. Most important, she loved being with her family.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by former husband and long- time friend, Albert Leak of Cassopolis; two daughters, Debra Watts of Cassopolis, Linda Leak of Goshen; one son, David Leak of Goshen;eight grandchildren, Melissa Watts of Cassopolis, Michael Higgins of Cassopolis, Christina (Branden) Higgins Smith of Cassopolis, James Leak of Goshen, Stephanie Smith of Constantine, Candy Ann (Bobby) Heath of Sturgis, Avery (Mikayla) Rickey of Illinois, Mickayla Sage of Vandalia; many great grandchildren; two great-great grand-children, Arabella Brumbelow, Ashton Jerraid; three sisters, Shirley Sherow of Goshen, Anita Carrick of Oceola, Betty Hernandez of Tennessee; two brothers, Russell Hibshman of Elkhart, Robert Steiner of Tennessee and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Larry Signs, Raymond Hibshman jr. and Richard Hibshman.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10:00a.m. until the time of her service at 11:00a.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.
Mary will be laid to rest in Edwardsburg Cemetery.
