
JoeJohn’s life began September 27, 1963. He grew up in Watervliet and graduated from the Watervliet High school after school he lived in Michigan, California, Florida, and Texas. In Hurst, TX he ran a very successful auto repair shop for many years. After retiring he moved to Michigan to be closer to family, making his home in Watervliet. JoeJohn loved racing boats and after he retired from racing he remained active through being an owner and crew chief. Racing left him with too many friends to count throughout the United States. He was personable, a good story teller, and had the best memory whether it was facts or people’s names.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including; his aunt Linda (Art) Wesselman, a nephew Derrek Sweet, cousins Charles (Linda) Pater, Lori Hosbein (Bob), and Joe (Mary Ann) Pater, and many more cousins and numerous friends around all the country.
JoeJohn died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Katherine (Anderson) Schulte and his sister Sue Schulte. Friends may visit with JoeJohn’s family Sunday, October 12, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with the Rosary being recited at 5:30 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. Memorials may be made in JoeJohn’s memory to Paw Paw Lake Foundation or American Diabetes Association. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for his family
