
A 19-year-old Andrews University student is dead after drowning in a Berrien Springs lake on Saturday.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of South Main Street at Lake Chapin around 4 p.m. on a report of a missing person. They learned several people had been swimming and were attempting to swim to the bridge pylons in the lake when 19-year-old Micah Harris experienced difficulty and went under the water.
Attempts by the other swimmers and people boating in the area to rescue Harris were not successful, and a search by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team recovered the body of Harris around 8 p.m.
Harris was from Xenia, Ohio. Po0lice have notified his next of kin.
