Lions 34, Browns 10 – Goff throws 2 TD passes to St. Brown, Lions beat Browns 34-10 for 3rd straight victory
Jared Goff threw two touchdown passes to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Kalif Raymond returned a punt 65 yards for another score and the Detroit Lions beat the Cleveland Browns 34-10. The Lions took advantage of Joe Flacco’s two interceptions in the first half and scored 20 straight points, giving them a 13-point lead at halftime. Detroit forced Flacco to fumble in the fourth, setting up another touchdown. The Browns opened with an 88-yard, 13-play touchdown drive, then had 44 yards with three punts and two turnovers the rest of the half.  Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson had a sack for a third straight game and forced a fumble for the second time in less than a week, including a win last Monday night at Baltimore.  He has 11 1/2 sacks in nine games, dating to the 2024 season that was cut short by a broken leg.

Rams 27, Colts 20 – Tutu Atwell makes a late 88-yard TD catch, and Rams rally past Colts 27-20
Tutu Atwell caught an 88-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford with 1:33 to play, and the Los Angeles Rams rallied to end the Indianapolis Colts’ unbeaten start with a 27-20 victory. Daniel Jones passed for 262 yards for the Colts, but Indy couldn’t overcome receiver Adonai Mitchell’s mind-boggling fumble right before he crossed the goal line with what was about to be a 76-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Stafford passed for 375 yards and three touchdowns for the Rams, and he hit Puka Nacua for a 9-yard score with 3:20 left.

Bears 25, Raiders 24 – Josh Blackwell blocks field goal to preserve Bears’ rally for 25-24 win over Raiders
Josh Blackwell blocked a 54-yard field-goal attempt by Daniel Carlson in the final minute to preserve a fourth-quarter rally led by Caleb Williams, and the Chicago Bears stunned the Las Vegas Raiders 25-24. After D’Andre Swift’s 2-yard touchdown run with 1:34 left put the Bears in front, Geno Smith led the Raiders into position for Carlson’s kick with 38 seconds left. Blackwell came in nearly untouched from the left side, dived and deflected the ball. Chicago had four takeaways for the second game in a row, including three interceptions of Geno Smith. The Raiders have lost three straight.

Golf – Europe wins the Ryder Cup and reasserts its dominance over the Americans
Europe has won the Ryder Cup, just like everyone expected. It just didn’t happen without a few nervous moments. The Americans rallied from a seven-point deficit to have a flicker of hope. Europe needed only two points to retain the cup. Ludvig Åberg in the fifth match got the first one. Matt Fitzpatrick earned a halve that felt like a consolation because he had Bryson DeChambeau down by 5 holes at one point. Shane Lowry put his name in Irish lore with a halve to secure the cup. And then Tyrrell Hatton got the winning half-point for Europe.

Golf – McIlroy calls out ‘unacceptable and abusive behavior’ from fans at Ryder Cup
Rory McIlroy helped Europe win the Ryder Cup and then called out the hostile New York crowd for “unacceptable and abusive behavior.” Over his five matches at Bethpage Black, McIlroy endured a torrent of insults about everything from his personal life to past failures on the golf course. People shouted out as he lined up to swing and putt. Someone threw a beer at his wife. During the European team’s winning news conference, McIlroy said golf “should be held to a higher standard” for fan behavior. He noted that the hecklers were a minority in a crowd of “true golf fans.”
