A developer has plans to bring 120 new homes to Royalton Township.
The Berrien County Brownfield Authority this month reviewed the plan for the new development, which would be located in the southeast corner of Glenlord and Hollywood Roads, just across the street from Roger’s Foodland.
The homes are being planned by a subsidiary of Allen Edwin Homes, the same developers behind a project to bring 19 new homes to the southern end of River Oaks Drive in Watervliet.
Now that the Brownfield Authority has reviewed the Royalton Township project’s request for a brownfield capture, we’re told the Berrien County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on it this Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
A recent change to state law makes it possible for brownfield dollars to be captured to help support housing developments, and both the Royalton and Watervliet projects are a result of that.
