
Cynthia “Cindy” Jane (Hollingsworth) Wheeler went home to be with Jesus on September 17th, 2025, at the age of 81, after a long battle with advanced stages of Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
Cindy was born on May 3, 1944, to Gladys A. (Huckfeldt) and Leland O. Hollingsworth in Davenport, Iowa.
She met her love, Joseph “Joe” B. Wheeler Sr., in Davenport, and they married on April 14th, 1964. After marrying, they moved to Michigan, where Cindy helped Joe raise his children, Joseph Jr., Teletha, Tina, and Robert “Bob”. They were proud owners and operators of multiple businesses over the years. In her later years, she worked for the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Benton Harbor, MI.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Hollingsworth and Gladys (Raymond) Goetsch, husband Joe Wheeler, half-brother Paul Hollingsworth, step-daughter Judy Wheeler, and step-son Bob Wheeler.
Her love and memory live on in her surviving siblings, Janet Heald, Patty Goetsch, Linda Wheeler, Vickie (Neil) Stanfield, Joe (Peggi) Goetsch, Donna Goetsch, Dave (Kathie) Goetsch, Mike (Bobbie) Goetsch, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Cindy will be laid to rest next to Joe in Millburg Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please feel free to donate in her name to The Salvation Army or Alzheimer’s Association.
