Phyllis Jean Rose passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 97, in Niles, Michigan. Born on May 20, 1928, in Hoytville, Michigan, to Herbert and Lillian Cochran, Phyllis’s early years were filled with the warm embrace of a loving family. She was the wife of the late William Rose, and together they built a life rich in love and shared endeavors.
Phyllis’s spirit was as vibrant as the gardens she tenderly cultivated. Her passion for the outdoors was evident to all who knew her, as she found solace and happiness in yard work, boating, fishing, and camping. Phyllis lived her life guided by the golden rule, treating others with the kindness and respect that became her hallmark. Her love for nature extended to bird watching, and she took great pleasure in caring for her feathered friends by diligently stocking the bird feeders around her home. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Niles, where she had many friends.
Phyllis had fond memories of country school in her younger years and was a graduate of Niles High School in 1946. She carried the lessons learned, and her path led her to become a respected business owner in the HVAC industry along with her husband Bill.
Phyllis’s legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her son Gary and his wife Cindy, her daughter-in-law Jennie, her four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a sister Vivian Weaver, a sister-in-law Joan Maxwell and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews who will forever cherish the memories and the wisdom she imparted. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband William, her son Layne, and her brother Larry Cochran.
As we bid farewell to Phyllis Jean Rose, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched, and her influence will live on for generations. Phyllis now rests in the arms of her Savior. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her story will be recounted with fondness and her example followed with admiration for years to come.
