The Cass County Board of Commissioners has unanimously voted to part ways with County Administrator Patrick Jordan following an investigation into allegations of derogatory comments made in the workplace.

Jordan was placed on paid administrative leave on August 15 after the board received reports he’d made discriminatory comments about Muslims and LGBTQ people. As permitted by the Open Meetings Act, Jordan asked that the matter be discussed publicly rather than in closed session. He said he comes from a different generation and the situation has been a “wake up call” for him.

The county’s legal counsel conducted an investigation, and Board Chair Jeremiah Jones says it’s made it clear Jordan violated the standards of the county. Therefore, he says termination with cause was deemed appropriate.

Jordan began serving as the County Administrator on June 11.

Finance Director Jennifer Rentfrow will continue to serve as interim administrator as the county searches for a permanent administrator.
