On April 25, 1962, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the world welcomed Tracy Patricia Morton, a woman whose life was defined by faith, love, and service to others. On August 29, 2025, after a nearly decade-long fight with cancer, Tracy passed into the arms of her Savior surrounded by her family.
Tracy was the beloved daughter of Patrick and Marilyn Flanagan and the cherished wife of Brian Douglas Morton. Her devotion first shone in the way she served her family; standing beside Brian, guiding her children, and loving her grandchildren with her whole heart. She was the steady encourager, the one who gave strength when others faltered, and the one who made every family member feel seen and loved.
She extended that same spirit of service beyond her home. A graduate of Dowagiac High School and Lake Michigan College, Tracy found her calling as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Her patients experienced not just her professional skill, but her compassion and her gift for lifting burdens. In every interaction, she worked to bring dignity, hope, and encouragement.
Her legacy continues through her children—Douglas (Sarah) Flanagan, William “Bill” (Crystal) Ashley, Carl “Adam” (Ciara) Ashley, Rachelle Miller, and Chris (Carissa) Morton—and through the grandchildren she cherished: Micah Flanagan, Peyton Flanagan, Natalie Flanagan, and Ruby Flanagan; Henry Ashley and Becca Ashley; Margaret Ashley, Eli Ashley, and Walker Ashley; Lilly Miller and Abby Miller; Emilia Morton and Penelope Morton. She is also survived by her sisters, Colleen Wilson, Karen (Tom) Langley, Kathleen Flanagan; her brothers, Carroll (Fae) James, James (Gladys) James; her sister-in-law Lucy Flanagan; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Patrick Flanagan and Sean Flanagan.
Tracy’s faith anchored her life. She and Brian worshiped and served for many years at Pleasant View Church of Christ in Cassopolis, where she shared her love of Christ freely and consistently. Even in her hardest days, her desire to serve others never dimmed; whether through words of encouragement, a listening ear, or the testimony of her perseverance.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Church of Christ 60550 Crooked Creed Road (corner of M-60) in Cassopolis, Michigan, followed by a time of fellowship, where family and friends can remember the woman who taught by example that true greatness is found in serving.
