The annual South Haven Jazz Festival is coming up next week.

Visit South Haven’s Jennifer Sistrunk tells us the event will be held September 12 and 13 at Dyckman Park and the Huron Street Pavilion with two stages and six performers throughout. She says the festival is an excellent way to relax and enjoy the fall season.

The great thing about this event is September, that time of year, it’s like the ideal weather situation,” Sistrunk said. “It’s still warm, but it’s not super crowded in town. It really is the best time to come to South Haven.”

Sistrunk says the festival itself is taking place within the boundaries of the South Haven Social District, so attendees can stop at a nearby bar or restaurant, pick up a drink, and take it over to the park. It’s a low-key way to relax for the evening.

“This festival, what’s great about it is that it’s a little bit more quaint. You get a really great experience with awesome musicians, but it’s just a little bit smaller.”

Performers will include the Terry Lower Trio, the Jim Cooper Quartet, the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band, Shout Section Big Band, and DB Horns.

The festival starts at 5 p.m. each day with performances on the hour and wrapping up around 8. It’s free to attend, and everyone’s encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
