A Decatur man is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting in Van Buren County on Thursday.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were sent to the 84,000 block of 42nd Street in Decatur Township around 10:25 p.m. on a report of a shooting. They learned an unidentified suspect had fired several rounds at a house from a vehicle before speeding off.
A 25-year-old man who had been on the porch at the time was struck by one of the rounds. He was taken to a hospital with what police describe as “critical but non-life threatening injuries.”
Police spent several hours collecting evidence from the scene and interviewing potential witnesses. Although no arrest has been made, police say they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the general public.
The case remains under investigation.
