
Alan John Poplawski, 78, of St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away at home in St. Joseph on Sunday, August 10, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, Michigan 49103.
Alan was born on October 26, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Bernice Poplawski.
Before graduation from St. Joseph High School in 1964, Alan and long-time friend Mike Nocera enlisted in the Army in the “Buddy System” and proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. Upon return from military service in Germany during the Vietnam Era, he worked as a career letter carrier in St. Joseph, Michigan. Many people know Alan from his mail route in downtown St. Joseph, as well as residents of Silver Beach and Lions Park Beach.
Alan is survived by brothers Larry (Dorine Jackson) Poplawski of Port Charlotte, Florida, and John Poplawski of Hartsville, Tennessee, and sister Diana (John) Elsner of Sarasota, Florida; son Christopher (Shannon) Poplawski of St. Joseph, Michigan, and daughter Stephanie Poplawski of Benton Harbor, Michigan; grandchildren Madison, Eric, Sinceria, Sierra, and many nieces and nephews. Alan will also be missed by lifelong friend Patrick Huminsky. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Poplawski, and son Patrick Poplawski.
Alan took great joy in riding his Harley Davidson and cruising in his Corvette, but nothing meant more to him than sharing time with friends, brothers, sister, and family.
Alan will be laid to rest in a private, graveside ceremony.
