St. Joseph Public Schools students will receive free admission to all regular season athletic events during the 2025-26 school year, the district announced.

Organizers say the initiative, funded by the Maize and Blue Athletic Fund, aims to boost school spirit, increase student engagement, and ensure equitable access to extracurricular activities.

“Athletics play a powerful role in bringing students together,” Maize and Blue Fund Vice President Kerry M. Wright II said. “By offering free admission, we’re making it easier for every student to support their peers, celebrate school traditions, and be a part of something bigger.”

According to the announcement, the decision was developed with input from student representatives and school leaders, aligning with broader efforts to enhance student life on and off campus.

“The energy our students bring to games is unmatched,” Athletic Director Kevin Guzzo said. “We’re excited to see even more faces in the stands, cheering on our teams and building a positive, unified school culture.”

Free admission applies to all regular season home games across all sports. Playoff and tournament events hosted by outside organizations may be excluded based on governing body policies.

Students must present a Maize and Blue Fund Athletic Pass for entry, available at upcoming back-to-school events. Students in fifth grade and below must be accompanied by an adult at all events.
