The Benton Township Board of Trustees has approved the site plan for some large storage units planned at 4090 East Napier Avenue.
Speaking to trustees this week, township building official Loyall Bennett said owner Joe Truman is seeking to convert the former Hanson Cold Storage building into 69 individual storage units.
Township Supervisor Cathy Yates told us this is just another service being brought to residents.
“Today it’s become a common thing to store things in storage units, and so it makes one more thing available for our community residents who need those type of things,” Yates said. “So, I’m glad to see it moving forward.”
The township planning commission previously approved the site plan.
Bennett said the business hours of operation would be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., although customers would have 24-hour access to their units. There would be no overnight outside storage, so no vehicles.
