Michigan Maritime Museum planning 80s-themed concert for this month

The Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven is inviting everyone to its most anticipated entertainment event of the year this month.

The museum’s Brent Paige tells us “Rock the Boat 4 Ever Young” will take place August 22 at the museum and feature a performance by The 1985 Band, a 1980s-themed rock group. In fact, the whole event is 80s-themed.

It’s a great evening, a lot of fun,” Paige said. “People come in costume, reflecting an 80s era theme. You don’t have to, just come as you are. We have food and beverage service right on campus. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the evening. There’s an area for dancing.”

Paige says the concert is now in its fourth year, and they’ve worked with The 1985 Band for each of them. So, why the 80s theme?

It seemed to cross a lot of different age perspectives. You know, you toy with other generational bands — 50s, 60s, the 80s sort of straddled that line.”

The evening will include food provided by Wood, Stock and Grill food truck and a cash bar. It’s all a fundraiser for the Michigan Maritime Museum, and Paige says this year will be bigger than ever. Around 500 people attended last year.

Tickets are available now on the Maritime Museum’s website for $20. You can learn more right here.
