Educators are expressing frustration that there’s no state budget in place with school starting in a few weeks.

Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall, a Republican, says the Democrats are holding things up.

They have an out of balance budget and we have priorities, which is fixing our roads, fixing, improving education, and investing in public safety,” Hall said. “As a result of that, we’re trying to get a budget done by September 30th, which is our state’s deadline.”

Hall says he has had talks with Governor Gretchen Whitmer and says one of her priorities is fixing the roads as part of the budget.
