Rideshare Uber is testing out a new feature that pairs women drivers and riders, including a test in Detroit.
Women riders will be able to set a preference for a woman driver in their app settings. Women drivers can also request to pick-up other women.
Rawaa Knio of Detroit says she’s excited to use the preference setting.
“I didn’t have any bad experience with any Uber transportation, but I would really like to have more women working in Uber,” Knio said.
Uber FIRST launched the platform in Saudi Arabia in 2019 after women were granted the right to drive. Uber said the response was overwhelmingly positive.
The feature is in 40 other countries.
