When it comes to holidays, there’s no rest for the retailers.

From Easter to Mother’s Day to 4th of July and now Halloween, stores are always looking for that next holiday item to put on their store shelves. Vic Veda with the Michigan Retailers Association says the starting dates for these holidays have changed, but we have as well.

The way that consumers are shopping has changed,” Veda said. “They’re taking a lot more time to look for deals. They’re trying to spread out expenses over multiple pay periods.”
For example, Veda says after the 4th of July, people moved on to back-to-school shopping with 67% of Americans already starting that months before the kids are back in class. She says to expect Christmas stuff on the shelves by late August.
