Dr. Simone Griffin will officially start as the new superintendent of Benton Harbor Area Schools on Monday, July 28. That’s after the district board of education this week finalized a three-year contract with Griffin.
Speaking Tuesday, board Trustee Trenton Bowens urged all to get behind the new district leader.
“I am excited about the future and great possibilities that we’ll be having with our new superintendent,” Bowens said. “I believe she will bring a professional level that we need.”
Trustee Elnora Gavin felt much the same.
“I’m excited about her energy,” Gavin said. “I’m excited about her framework. I’m excited about her commitment to transparency, about student-centered leadership.”
Board President Dashuna Robinson says the board is excited to partner with Griffin and looks forward to success under her leadership and through her MIRACLES framework, an eight-part plan to ensure a district turnaround.
Griffin most recently served as the regional director of teaching at Learnwell Educational Services in Illinois. She says she’s “incredibly excited” to become a part of Tiger Nation and she looks forward to building on the district’s commitment to excellence.
We’ll be chatting with Griffin on Monday to help the community better get to know the new school leader.
