Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel E. Abbot reports that on Thursday, deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 388 and 68th street in Geneva township for a 2 car crash. Initial callers reported that one of the vehicles was on fire and there was one person possibly unconscious.
When they arrived, deputies located two vehicles with heavy damage in front of a local business. The early investigation indicates a 2022 Hyundai was eastbound on County Road 388. It attempted to turn into the local business and was struck by a 2025 Chevrolet that was headed westbound on County Road 388.
Officials say a good Samaritan removed the driver of the Hyundai from the vehicle and another good Samaritan used a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire on the Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai had serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Deputies were assisted on scene by SHAES and Harbor Towing.
