The Van Buren Conservation District is planning a community recycling event in South Haven for next month.
District recycling coordinator Kalli Marshall addressed the city council Monday and said all county residents are invited.
“We have our South Haven Recycle Roundup coming up Saturday, August 2,” Marshall said. “That is at the DPW, where we will be accepting the household hazardous waste. So batteries, light bulbs, cleaners, as well as the Styrofoam, tires, and electronics.”
Marshall said the event will be free. It will run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Although they’ll take household hazardous waste, motor oil, asbestos, and ammunition will not be accepted. Neither will latex paint. Anyone looking to drop off tires will need to RSVP because space will be limited.
The next Conservation District Recycle Roundup event will be at the Van Buren ISD Tech Center in Lawrence on October 18.
