The Bicentennial Bridge connecting Benton Harbor and St. Joseph has reopened to vehicle traffic.
The bridge was shut down last Thursday when Michigan Department of Transportation crews ran into trouble getting it to close properly after a maintenance project. It remained closed to traffic all Independence Day weekend.
MDOT had to bring in an out of state expert to help figure out what the problem was, and around 6 p.m. Wednesday, the agency announced traffic was once again flowing on the bridge.
We have reached out to MDOT for more information on just what was wrong with the bridge.
