Saturday was National Workaholics Day, and despite the holiday weekend, many people were working straight through.
Dr. Matt Piszczek, an assistant professor of management at Wayne State’s University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business, says some professions see more workaholics than others.
“In my computer-based work, knowledge-based work, you can very easily be working from home,” Piszczek said. “You can get emails, phone calls after hours, and those jobs, because they have those blurred boundaries between work and home, are a little more susceptible to workaholism.”
Piszczek says the day is meant to serve as a reminder to find a good balance between work and home life.
