This will be a busy weekend in Bridgman with Celebrate Bridgman and the return of the annual street dance on Saturday and then the Bridgman Open Air Market being held on Sunday.

Celebrate Bridgman will feature events all day Saturday, including runs, a parade, pop-up markets, and a paint-by-numbers mural that everyone can work on. Then the street dance will be held from 5 to 11 at the city hall parking lot with the fire department cooking hot dogs and live music.

The next day, Sunday, will feature the Open Air Market’s Kids Day. Market manager Roseanne Stachowiak tells us that’ll be huge.

We’ll have the Blossomtime queens are coming out that day, the Bridgman High School robotics teams will be out that day,” Stachowiak said. “There’ll be an ambulance out, pottery displays, people are throwing clay, multiple activities for the kids to do and to get involved with and basically show them how we do what we do.”

Stachowiak says Kids Day is one of the market’s biggest days each summer.

They come out in drives. People love to see what we have for them and what they can do and what they can accomplish. ‘Hey, I can do that,’ it tells them.”

In addition to all the stuff for kids, the market will feature fresh produce, fresh meats, jewelry, a leathermaker, and even a blacksmith with a working forge. The market is held from 9 to 3 at the parking lot behind United Federal Credit Union at Lake Street and Red Arrow Highway. Celebrate Bridgman events, on Saturday, will be all over town.
