With great sadness, Gloria Lucia Caicedo, 91, of St Joseph, Michigan, passed away on June 30, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her three children and loved ones.
Gloria was born in Cali, Colombia in 1933. She was one of twelve siblings with one of them being an identical twin. Her only surviving sister, Graciela, still lives in Colombia. She met and married Julio Caicedo in 1955 in Popayan, Colombia and together they had three children. The family immigrated to the USA in 1964. She dedicated her life to nurturing her three children and maintaining a wonderful living environment at home. She was a talented seamstress and was sought out by many of the elite in Saint Joseph to tailor their clothing. She adored taking the family on long camping trips throughout the Eastern US and Canada, as well as trips to Europe. After retirement, she and Julio travelled every corner of the world! She was a kind, generous and loving wife, and dedicated mother & grandmother.
Gloria leaves behind her three children; Julio (Maria Saavedra) Caicedo Jr., Patricia Caicedo and Jimena (Richard) Ziegert. She also leaves behind her two granddaughters, Kellie (Nic) Ruhl and Gabriela “Gigi” Grannell.
Per Gloria’s wishes, she has donated her body to science with a private family ceremony to follow where her remains will be scattered at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Niles.
