
Frank William Kalina, 84 , of Cassopolis, died peacefully Thursday, July 3, 2025 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began March 4, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest of six children born to William and Helen Kalina. He married Vickie Sue Charles November 26, 1966 in Cassopolis, Michigan.
Frank was a Vietnam veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Army. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Lionel trains, farming, and enjoyed eating at Golden Corral. His family describes his as being the hardest working, strongest willed, and toughest man they knew.
Frank will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Vickie Kalina; one son, William (Tara) Kalina; two daughters, Nicole (Paul) Sickmiller, Lisa Marie (Daniel) Pletcher; seven grandchildren, Zack Rodabaugh, Seth Kalina, Gavin Kalina, Emily Kalina, Donovan Sickmiller, Nicolas Sickmiller, Melanie Sickmiller; two sisters, Phyllis Mosher, Teresa (Jim) Hershberger; one sister-in-law, Euna Kalina; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; one brother who died in infancy; one sister, Patricia McCourt; one brother, Joseph Kalina; and one brother-in-law, Charles “Tucky” Mosher.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Ann Catholic Church, 421 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis with additional calling one hour prior beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Frank will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Sumnerville where he will be accorded full military honors.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Frank be made to Lt. William E. Lozier VFW Post 10704, 131 South Broadway Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
