A man accused of lobbing pipe bombs at police in Van Buren County on Friday has been arraigned on a variety of charges.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were investigating a report of a wanted fugitive staying in a camper in the 28,000 block of County Road 388 near Gobles when the suspect allegedly set off a pipe bomb inside. He later allegedly threw two more pipe bombs at SWAT team officers when they fired tear gas into the camper.
The suspect was finally brought under control with the use of a “less-lethal shotgun.”
Now the sheriff’s department says 58-year-old Morgan Scott Parish was arraigned Monday on 18 criminal counts, including terrorism, assault with intent to murder, explosive-related offenses, and assaulting and resisting officers. A habitual offender — fourth offense — notice was also filed.
Bond was set at $5 million.
If convicted, Parish could be looking at up to life in prison.
