Margel Jean (Hose) Bellis

Margel’s life began March 11, 1938, in Ft. Run, West Virginia. She grew up in Howard County, Maryland and attended Clarksville High School. She married the love of her life Walter S. Bellis III in Ellicott City, Md on March 17, 1956. Margel moved to Michigan in 1968 where she and Walt pastored churches in Livonia, Dowagiac, Three Oaks, Niles and Benton Harbor, MI. and made their home in Three Oaks, Michigan where they raised their daughter Donna. Margel worked for many years in management for Swan Oil Company in Benton Harbor, MI. After retirement Margel and Walt returned to West Virginia to care for her mother. At this point Margel decided she wasn’t done working and went to work for Walmart in Moorefield, WV in the lawn and garden area and then finally retired for a second time when she was 82 years old. Margel loved making trips back to Michigan to watch her granddaughters play sports. Margel also enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Margel leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory including: her daughter Donna (Brian) Weberg of Watervliet, MI; three granddaughters: Krystin (Jason) Rhinehart of Hartford, MI; Kailee (Neil) Friday of Hartford, MI; and Kara (Steven) Wagner of Coloma, MI; six great-grandsons: Bryson, Brody and Bowen Rhinehart and Zayden, Zander and Zephyn Friday all of Hartford, MI; a brother Rodney Hose of Petersburg, WV; Sister-in-laws: Mary Lou Hose of Pilot Mountain, NC , Rebecca Valentine and Nancy Bellis of Catonsville, MD, Deb Rinker of Arnold, MD., Jane Ayers of Bel Air, MD, Ed (Kathie) Bellis of Glen Burnie, MD.; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a few great-greats.

Margel died Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Pine Ridge Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her parents Bythinia and Catherine (Combs)Hose, husband Walter S. Bellis III, two brothers: Warren (Joe) Hose and Layman Hose. Sister-in-laws: Vickie Hose, Catherine (Cassie) Gearheart, Mary King. Brother-in-laws: Bob Gearheart, Timothy Bellis, Larry Rinker, Kit Valentine and Francis King. Nieces: Kimberly Bellis, Damie Hose. Great-Nephews: Vaitor Davis, Jantzen Bryant

Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, MI is assisting Margel’s family with cremation. She will be buried with her husband in Walnut Grove Gardens Cemetery in Moorefield, WV. Services will be on August 8, 2025, at 11am at the Walnut Grove Church of Brethren in Moorefield, WV with reception immediately following in the fellowship hall.
