Arisker Gulledge 74, of Benton Harbor, MI departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home.
Arisker Gulledge Jr. Was born on December 23, 1950, in Benton Harbor, MI to the union of Arisker Sr. and Ella V Gulledge. He was the eldest of 6 children.
Arisker attended Hull School from Kindergarten through 9th grade and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1971. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. In 1970, Arisker became the proud father of his first-born Decole Moore. He later joined the Community Church of God in Christ where he married Mary Phillps. To this union were born four children: Nathaniel, Curtis, Jessica, and Jeremy. Arisker became very active in the church as a Van Driver, Usher, Deacon and member of the Board of Trustees. On October 25, 2020, Arisker joined the New Bethel Baptist Church; where he faithfully continued to serve on the Deacons Board under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Maurice McAfee.
Arisker worked for Auto Specialties and Whirlpool before he retired. He became active in the community and participated in the “Just Us” nonprofit organization. He was an active member of the board for the Public Safety Department and was the longest standing member of the Civil Service Committee for the City of Benton Harbor. Arisker was super excited when he was instrumental in successful acquisition of a new fire truck for the Benton Harbor Fire Department.
In October of 1993, he married Ruby Jean Bledsoe. They were married for 31 years. Arisker loved being surrounded by family and friends. You often found him at celebrations for practically anyone he knew. When it came to celebrating his children, he was the proudest father with the biggest smile on his face. His proudest moments always included his family.
Arisker leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Ruby Jean Gulledge, of Benton Harbor, MI, his children; Decole (Yuma) Allen, of Merrillville, IN, Nathaniel (Latonia) Gulledge, of Benton Harbor, MI, Curtis (Shirica) Gulledge of Orlando, FL, Jessica Gulledge (Brandon) of Milwaukee, WI, Jeremy Gulledge of New Orleans, LA, Leo Luckett Jr. of Benton Harbor, MI, William Bledsoe of San Antonio, TX, Benjamin Williams of St. Louis MO, Patricia (Willie) Rawls, of Detroit, MI, Tokaka Bennett of Watervliet, MI; two siblings, Leroy (Bobbie) Gulledge and Cheryl (Richard) Payne both of Benton Harbor, MI; 17 Grandchildren; 4 Great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arisker was proceeded in death by his parents, Arisker Sr. and Ella V. Gulledge, a sister Betty Kyle, 2 brothers Alfred Gulledge and Emitt Gulledge.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
